The care and attention we pay to organizing space outdoors can help to stimulate children's imagination, creativity, exploration, discovery, engagement and sense of wonder. The choices about the environment we create also link directly to the play and learning in individual classrooms. It is for these reasons that the playground is a wonderful place to make changes to better suit our style of learning using natural and repurposed materials.
Here are photos of the exciting changes taking place in our outdoor spaces:
Our "musical" wall designed with repurposed materials

A "school bus" with tree trunk seats and a lazy susan steering wheel

Beautifying our space with flowers planted in recycled plastic bottles

Fabric weavings done by the 2's class

Outdoor meeting space

A "stepping stone" path for jumping, walking, and counting
